Job summary

AdventHealth in DeLand, Florida seeks a part-time patient financial services associate to handle Medicare compliance reviews, ABNs, and patient financial estimates. You will coordinate with utilization management for pre-authorization, verify insurance benefits, and register patients accurately while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities include ensuring timely authorizations, assisting with payer communications, and providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Mature judgement in dealing with patients, physicians and insurers.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office and basic database programs.
• Operates standard office equipment (computer, printer, scanner, fax).
• Able to manage multiple tasks in a systematic and efficient way.
• Communicates professionally, both verbally and in writing.
• Adaptable to changing healthcare environments.
• Follows complex instructions with attention to detail.
• Complies with CMS, EMTALA and HIPAA policies.
• Understands HIPAA privacy and confidential information handling.
• Knowledge of EMR systems and medical terminology.
• Understanding of insurance benefits; ability to interpret them.
• English/Spanish bilingual capability.
• Experience in customer service and outstanding service.
• Strong insurance knowledge and benefits understanding.
• Experience with hospital EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs Medicare compliance reviews and issues ABNs as needed.
• Creates accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collects payments or sets up plans.
• Coordinates with utilization management for pre-authorization issues.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits; obtains pre-authorizations on time.
• Registers patients for services with accuracy and avoids duplication.
• Collects demographic information and confirms insurance details.
• Provides coverage for assigned work areas and arranges relief as needed.
• Facilitates communication between clinical, ancillary and access departments.
• Maintains excellent customer service and documents conversations.
• Attends meetings and supports team dialogue; covers PBX as needed.
• Performs cashiering duties and cash reconciliation.
• Other duties as assigned.
