Job summary

AdventHealth in Davenport, FL is seeking a patient access specialist to support Medicare compliance, estimate patient financial responsibility, and coordinate pre-authorizations. The role includes registering patients, collecting data, and ensuring accurate records while delivering strong customer service.

The position requires 1+ year in customer service or healthcare, bilingual English/Spanish preferred, and familiarity with EMR systems.

Qualifications

1+ year of customer service experience
1+ year in healthcare experience
1+ year in revenue cycle activities
Familiarity with CMS EMTALA HIPAA compliance

Responsibilities

Performs Medicare compliance reviews and issues ABNs as needed.
Creates accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collects payments or sets up payment plans.
Coordinates with utilization management for pre-authorization and ensures patients have necessary info.
Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains pre-authorizations within set timeframes.
Registers patients for all services, ensuring accuracy and avoiding duplicate records.
Collects demographic information and confirms insurance details.
Ensures coverage during shifts and arranges relief coverage as needed.
Facilitates communication across clinical, ancillary, and consumer access teams to improve patient experience.
Maintains thorough documentation of conversations with patients and insurers including payer decisions.
Attends meetings and promotes positive team dialogue.
Provides PBX coverage as needed (answering/transferring calls).
Performs cashiering functions such as collections and cash reconciliation.
Other duties as assigned.
