Job summary

Holy Cross Health, part of Trinity Health, in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a patient registration specialist to collect and verify financial and demographic information at admission. You will handle inquiries, determine patient financial status and coordinate with payors and departments to ensure accurate billing and timely processing.

Qualifications

• Collect money due from patient at admission or in ER prior to discharge.
• Complete all necessary reports.
• Communicate with Case Management and Patient Financial Services and other departments when appropriate.

What you will do

• Register patients by obtaining necessary and accurate financial and demographic information.
• Receive, investigate and respond to various inquiries and questions in a pleasant and helpful manner.
• Determine the financial status of the patient and or guarantor and complete all financial/insurance related functions and signatures.
• Communicate with third party payors, obtain insurance benefits and obtain insurance authorizations.
• Collect money due from patient at admission, or in ER setting, prior to discharge.
• Complete all necessary reports.
• Communicate with Case Management, Patient Financial Services and Self/Pay/Medicaid eligibility Team and all other departments when appropriate.

Licensure

Certified Patient Account Technician CPAT preferred, but not required

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate's degree preferred or process of obtaining one (preferred)
• Must possess excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
