Job summary

Baptist Health in Montgomery is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist to manage pre-registration, registration, payer verification, and point-of-service collections. You will ensure accurate data entry of patient demographics and benefits and coordinate with financial counseling to determine and collect at the time of service.

Proficiency with MS Office and strong communication skills are essential, with 2+ years in hospital access or financial services preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred.
• Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.
• Training experience a plus.
• Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification, referral to financial counseling, and point of service collections.
• Ensure that data gathered and entered to computer systems of patient demographic and benefit information is accurate.
• Verify benefits eligibility and coordination of benefits, and determine and collect the patient's financial responsibility at the point of service.
• Understand regulatory requirements (medical necessity determination, Medicare Secondary Payer completion and COB, Medicare signage, HIPAA, EMTALA).
