Job summary

INTEGRIS Health Ponca City Hospital in Ponca City, OK is seeking a variable shift, full-time Patient Access Specialist. The role encompasses complex access transactions, financial counseling, and rapid issue resolution for patients and providers.

Qualifications

• 1 year of Patient Access operations activities (scheduling/registration/insurance) or related experience (billing, collections, accounts receivables)
• Experience in scheduling, registration, insurance, billing, collections, and customer service in a hospital or physician office setting
• May substitute 1100+ related Career Tech program or one year of college coursework in a related field for experience

Responsibilities

• Ensures complex patient access transactions including coverage eligibility, insurance verification, patient portion calculation and authorization according to protocol
• Financial counseling including screening for government programs and financial assistance, payment options and arrangements, processing point of service payments, verifying patient demographics and obtaining signatures
• Uses analytical thinking and independent judgment to adjust service area schedules and accommodate special requests
• Accepts inbound calls from patients, physician offices, insurers to resolve concerns
• Collects patient payments and ensures financial clearance
• Documents all patient account activities including authorization and patient liability requirements
• Performs filing, data entry, and other duties as assigned
• Responds to patient inquiries regarding pre-care services, policies, coverage and financial liability; utilizes resources to resolve inquiries on phone or accounts
• Understands payer regulations and communicates coverage benefits and financial liability to patients
• Participates in team-oriented process improvement initiatives for the department and organization
• Participates in continuous quality improvement, tracks progress with supervisors
• Interprets and maintains compliance with EMTALA and HIPAA, policies and third-party contracts
