Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Data entry and PC experience.
• Medical terminology coursework or knowledge.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Maintains confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to work remote and attend onsite meetings as needed.
• Ability to use the computer and telephone simultaneously.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of growth and development across the life span.
• Ability to assess age-specific patient information.
• Understand BVH policies and procedures.
• Eligibility to work across BV locations as required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors procedures for financial responsibility and pre-payment.
• Conducts insurance verification via phone, fax, or online.
• Gathers and documents deductible, coinsurance and copay information.
• Provides patient an estimated cost and outlines bad debt.
• Explains payment options and collects payments.
• Problem solves and assists all customer groups.
• Pre-registers patients as needed.
• Compiles Good Faith Estimate information for patients.
• Acts as liaison between facility and patient/family to resolve issues.
• Participates in training and education to maintain skills.
• Adheres to department and organizational policies; engages in meetings.
• Notifies supervisor of inconsistencies in the EHR.
