Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS is seeking a Per Diem Medical Office Assistant in the Physical Therapy department. You will register patients, verify demographics and insurance, discuss costs, provide friendly financial counseling, and support patient flow and billing with clear communication to colleagues.

This role requires accurate data entry, clear communication, and collaboration with clinical and billing staff; hours and shifts are variable.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Customer Services experience required
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)

Responsibilities

• Efficiently complete patient registration and admission processes in compliance with organization policies.
• Gather, verify, and record patient demographic and insurance information with precision.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations
• Communicate with insurance companies to confirm patient benefits and coverage limitations.
• Discuss payment plans, co-pays, and out-of-pocket expenses with patients.
• Provide cost estimates for outpatient services and address any billing inquiries.
• Deliver friendly, professional service, attending to patients' needs promptly. Handle patient inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.
• Work closely with clinical staff to support patient care activities.
• Coordinate with billing and financial departments to resolve account discrepancies.
