USA Health is seeking a Care Access Associate in Mobile. You will perform clerical tasks, verify patient demographics and insurance, and manage scheduling and billing processes to support clinic operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of clerical experience in an access center, customer service, or healthcare setting.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
• Completion of higher level of education as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama will substitute for the required experience.
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Care Access Associate serves as the primary clerical role in the practice.
• Calls patients to remind them of scheduled appointments and to reschedule 'no show' appointments and to verify demographic information for billing such as address, email, and insurance information.
• Understands common payers, in-network vs out-of-network, deductibles and co-pays for patient discussions.
• Works to collect time of service co-pays and previous balances.
• Prepares charts and encounter tickets for scheduled clinics.
• Greets patients with high-efficiency customer service and documents interactions in the medical record.
• Obtains and verifies demographic and insurance information at time of service.
• Verifies insurance through carrier websites and documents billing information.
• Obtains insurance/records release authorization per HCFA guidelines.
• Checks patients into clinic and notifies about non-covered services.
• Checks patients out and ensures follow-up visits are booked.
• Reviews encounter tickets for CPT/ICD-10 accuracy and follows up with providers.
• Keys charges into billing system as needed.
• Answers questions about fees and payments.
• Prints bills on demand for patients at time of service.
• Tracks encounter tickets daily for posting and balance of charges/payments.
• Follows cash handling policies.
• Answers phone inquiries and provides basic information on physician qualifications, appointment times, directions, and billing.
• Screens calls and routes to appropriate staff for non-routine inquiries.
• Maintains medical records and supports scanning and filing.
• Processes medical records requests and HIPAA compliant forms.
