Overview

Now hiring a Patient Access Advocate I-ED. The Patient Access Advocate I provides primary registration of patient accounts for self-pay, government, and commercial accounts on the date of service for scheduled and unscheduled visits. Responsibilities include registration functions, updating demographics, insurance verification, collection of point of service liabilities, and documentation within the ADT system. Confirm account accuracy to ensure clean billing. Must possess basic knowledge of Medicare (CMS) guidelines and other applicable Compliance Regulatory guidelines. Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors, including wayfinding.

Ideal Candidate

6 months healthcare experience or 1 year customer service background.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Experience: 6 months in healthcare or 1 year customer service
  • Complete Patient Access Academy with 85%+ within 6 months
  • Preferred: CHAA, CHAM or industry certification
  • Basic understanding of insurance, medical terminology, billing codes, and healthcare registration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional patient experience using CARES, AIDET, and EPE tools
  • Resolve complaints and manage conflicts appropriately
  • Educate patients on insurance benefits and liabilities
  • Ensure accounts are financially cleared at the time of service
  • Perform patient registration, collecting and verifying demographic and insurance data
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Document actions accurately for follow-up and audits
  • Maintain knowledge of authorization requirements and payer guidelines, including Medicare (CMS)
  • Complete MSPQ at the time of service if not done during financial clearance
