Base pay range: $15.00/hr - $20.57/hr

Overview

Now hiring a Patient Access Advocate I. This role involves primary registration of patient accounts for self-pay, government, and commercial accounts on the date of service for scheduled and unscheduled visits. Responsibilities include registration functions, updating demographics, insurance verification, collecting point of service liabilities, and documenting registration information within the ADT system. Ensure the account has accurate information to facilitate clean billing. Basic knowledge of Medicare (CMS) guidelines and other compliance regulations applicable to Patient Access is required. Provide excellent customer service and assist with wayfinding for patients and visitors.

Ideal Candidate

6 months experience in healthcare setting or 1 year customer service background.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED
  • 6 months healthcare or 1 year customer service experience
  • Pass the 2-week Patient Access Academy with a score of 85% or higher (within 6 months of start)
  • Preferred: CHAA, CHAM or industry equivalent certification
  • Basic understanding of insurance, medical terminology, billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
  • Basic knowledge of registration and healthcare processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional patient experience using CARES, AIDET, and EPE tools
  • Resolve complaints effectively and de-escalate conflicts when necessary
  • Educate patients on insurance benefits and liabilities
  • Ensure accounts are financially cleared at the time of service
  • Perform patient registration, verifying and entering demographic and insurance information, and documenting actions accurately
  • Maintain knowledge of authorization requirements, payer guidelines, and Medicare (CMS) regulations
  • Complete MSPQ at the time of service if not previously done
