Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-year recent experience in an Admitting Department in an acute care setting preferred.
• Experience with Commercial, HMO, PPO, and Workers’ Compensation billing and/or insurance follow-up in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registration/pre-registration: verify demographic information, guarantor and emergency contacts.
• Explain admission forms and obtain signatures where applicable.
• Explain and obtain patient responsibility forms and smoking cessation information.
• Monitor daily work to maximize productivity and ensure quality.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain necessary authorizations.
• Collect co-pays/deductibles and document in the patient account.
• Enter admission data into hospital information systems.
