Job summary

Avera is hiring an Admissions Specialist in Yankton, SD for PRN day shift. You will register patients, establish accounts and medical record numbers, and verify insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing and smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• 1-3 years related experience in billing, insurance or registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create accounts/medical record numbers and insurance coverage in a timely and accurate manner, coordinating with patients and staff.
• Register patients by entering demographic, insurance, physician, and other defined information per established standards.
• Educate patients on plan benefits and collect deposits, posting payments to the processing system.
• Maintain positive patient relations and ensure HIPAA privacy practices are communicated and followed.
• Coordinate internal hospital messages and perform insurance verification and pre-certification/authorization for accounts.
• Interact with patients in care units to complete registrations and obtain consents and required documentation.
• Check medical necessity by confirming CPOM order and care status at admission for direct admits.
