Job summary

Friends of the Children is seeking a Pathways Career Coach in Portland, Oregon to guide 16–22 year olds through life planning, college readiness, and career exploration. You will partner with mentors, families, schools, and employers to support postsecondary opportunities and essential life skills for independent adulthood.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience working with underserved or first-generation students.
Strong coaching, advising, or mentoring background.
Knowledge of postsecondary pathways (college, career training, workforce).

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group coaching to students typically aged 16–22 from junior year through age 22.
Guide youth in developing a Life Plan—postsecondary and career readiness, health, relationships, and financial independence.
Support youth in identifying interests, strengths, and long-term goals.
Build trusted, long-term relationships with youth and families to support transitions into adulthood.
Track progress and adjust plans to help youth meet milestones in Life Plans.
