Job summary

Bethany Children’s Health Center is seeking an ASPIRE Assistant to support adapted sports, recreation, and exercise programs for individuals of all abilities. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to facilitate engaging, patient-centered activities for inpatients, outpatients and community participants.

The role involves assisting with group activities, coordinating events, documenting participation in the EMR, and ensuring safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities preferred; experience with sports, recreation, arts, camps, or community programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation and facilitation of adapted sports, recreation, exercise, and personal interest groups.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to plan and deliver group activities and events for inpatient, outpatient, and community participants.
  • Monitor participant progress and document participation and outcomes in the EMR system.
  • Support participant transportation and safety, ensuring a welcoming and therapeutic environment.
  • Assist with daily ARFAC operations, including equipment, store support, inventory, sanitation, and pool safety checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Shift: Direct Patient Care

The Pathway to ASPIRE Assistant (Adapted Sports, Personal Interests, Recreation and Exercise) role supports the Adapted Recreation and Fine Arts Complex team through assisting with implementation of engaging, patient-centered groups and events focused on adapted sports, recreation, and exercise for individuals with all abilities. Working closely with interdisciplinary staff, this role will help facilitate activities, provide direct support to patients and community individuals, ensuring a safe and encouraging environment, and adapted programming to meet diverse needs.

Schedule:
Monday- Friday 9:00am- 12:00pm and Saturday 7:30am-12:30pm
OR
Tuesday, Thursday 2:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday 10:00am-3:00pm Saturday 7:30am-12:30pm

Duty
  • Assist with the implementation and facilitation of adapted sports, recreation, exercise, and personal interest groups, providing hands-on support to participants and promoting engagement, inclusion, and a positive experience for individuals of all abilities. (40%)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to plan, coordinate, and deliver group activities and special events for inpatient, outpatient, and community participants, including evening and weekend programming. (20%)
  • Monitor participant progress, communicate individual needs with the care team, and document group participation and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. (15%)
  • Support participant transportation and safety by assisting with timely movement to and from activities and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic environment. (10%)
  • Assist with daily ARFAC operations, including maintaining equipment and supplies, supporting the Bethany Children's Store, performing inventory and sanitation tasks, conducting pool maintenance and safety checks, and completing miscellaneous projects as assigned. (10%)
  • Other duties as assigned. (5%)
Qualifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
  • Previous or current experience working, volunteering, interning, or participating in programs serving individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. Additionally, experience assisting with sports, recreation, fitness, arts, camps, or community programs preferred.
