Job summary

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas seeks a Pathway Initiatives Specialist to coordinate work-based learning and career pathways across the region. You’ll partner with schools, higher ed, employers, and community groups to expand opportunities and align programs with regional workforce needs.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (preferred) and 3+ years in education, workforce development, or related fields, with strong communication and organization. Travel across the region is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years in education, workforce development, program coordination, or related field.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work-based learning experiences with industry partners, educators, and students.
  • Support the development and alignment of high-quality career and education pathways that address regional workforce needs.
  • Coordinate and maintain partnerships among education, workforce, industry, and community stakeholders to support workforce initiatives and career-connected learning.
  • Work closely with regional education service centers, partner school districts, employers, and postsecondary institutions to implement workforce and education initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, educators, and employers participating in assigned programs and initiatives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate meetings, workshops, presentations, and other engagement activities with education, workforce, and industry partners.
  • Support the implementation and coordination of assigned grants, programs, and regional initiatives.
  • Collect and maintain program data to support grant reporting, presentations, performance tracking, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas programs, services, and initiatives throughout the region.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Pathway Initiatives Specialists coordinate work-based learning opportunities and support the development of career pathways across the West Central Texas region. This position works closely with employers, school districts, higher education institutions, and community partners to expand career-connected learning opportunities, strengthen regional workforce initiatives, and prepare students for high-demand careers.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred. Comparable and relevant experience may substitute year-for-year for a four-year degree. A minimum of three years of experience in education, workforce development, program coordination, partnership development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills and be willing to travel throughout the region.

Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the initiative to outreach internal and external stakeholders by phone calls, emails, and in-person site visits. Professional communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office products and willingness to become proficient in CRM software.
