Job summary

Qualifications

• Level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of high school with course work in Biology and Chemistry.
• Applies standard precautions.
• Organizational and clerical skills to maintain logs and records; computer skills.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to exchange information with physicians, nurses, and external laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens for pre-analytical processing and labels specimens.
• Maintains logbooks and similar documents as required.
• Checks specimens for special handling needs in conjunction with a technologist.
• Contacts units and offices to clarify testing requests and notify redraws.
• Answers central laboratory line and assists with test results distribution.
