Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to perform clerical and technical duties, including specimen accessioning, centrifugation, and communication with clinicians. This onsite role at 2 Wells Avenue involves daily lab tasks and collaboration with technologists in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 1–2 years of related experience, and strong interpersonal skills. 40 hours weekly, with a Day shift and onsite work.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with lab staff and hospital personnel.
  • Ability to multitask and work accurately under time constraints and heavy workload.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with labeling, preservation and fixation of specimens.
  • Work closely with technologists to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens.
  • Monitor reagent and supply inventory.
  • Organize patient specimen and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review.
  • Use LIMS to upload documents and input critical data or comments.
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment.
  • Rotate chemicals in all stainers and processors.
  • Stock lab supplies and track inventory.
  • Other lab related duties as needed.

Job Summary Summary

Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation and decanting of patient specimens, and communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone. Does this position require Patient Care? no

Essential Functions
  • Assist with labeling, preservation and fixation of specimens.
  • Work closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed timely and accurately.

Qualifications Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience 1-2 years required
