Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a laboratory support associate to resolve order/specimen issues, respond to test result inquiries, and assist with pre-analytical processing. You will handle accessioning, data entry, and ensure safe, compliant lab operations.

The role requires flexibility for evenings and rotating weekends, and may involve overtime as needed. Prior lab experience and knowledge of lab safety are advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of post-high school education in a Health Science field preferred.
• Experience with data entry and PC use in a lab setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Resolve problems with orders and specimens and respond to telephone inquiries for test results and collection criteria.
• Prepare and handle specimens, maintain equipment, and assist with pre-analytical processing.
• Register/accession patient material and maintain ordering/inventory processes where applicable.
• Rotating weekends, holiday scheduling, and potential overtime as needed.
