Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant III to perform pre-analytic processing and related duties in the UVA Community Health laboratory system. This role includes data entry, order review, specimen labeling, and patient phlebotomy in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities cover specimen handling, inventory support, and collaboration with medical staff to ensure quality and timely test processing, with emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum two years of health care or laboratory experience or CLA certification; or phlebotomy certification; or related science program enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Pre-analytical processing of specimens for testing.
• Data entry of client demographic information and order review.
• Reconcile specimen/order problems and assist with send-out testing.
• Ensure proper patient registration, labeling, and paper requisitions.
• Support inventory management and answer phones.
• Perform patient phlebotomy and provide pathology support.
