Job summary

United-Digestive is seeking a Pathology Lab Assistant in Alpharetta, GA to organize and prep slides, maintain documentation, and manage supplies. Responsibilities include accessioning specimens, preparing cassettes, and coordinating with Pathologists.

Requirements include a high school diploma, knowledge of biology/chemistry/histology/immunology, and 1 year of pathology experience preferred. Must be computer literate and capable of handling multiple tasks with accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; working knowledge of biology, chemistry, histology, immunology, and mathematics is required.
• 1 year of clinical experience in the pathology setting preferred; 1 year of experience working with CLIA regulatory requirements is a plus.
• Pathology Lab Assistant must be computer literate and able to operate multiple Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent organizational skills to execute a wide variety of lab techniques accurately and expeditiously.

Responsibilities

• Maintains diagnostic viability of all specimens received, and ensures correct labeling of all materials.
• Completes sorting and accessioning of pathology specimens.
• Initiates daily grossing log (patient name, accession#, slide protocol notes).
• Prepares specimen cassettes and slides for distribution to the Pathologist.
• Identifies problems and reports to senior staff; troubleshoots with supervision.
