Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking a Gross Technician to support the pathology team in preparing and processing surgical specimens. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and technical proficiency within a nationally recognized healthcare environment.

You will work full-time evenings (11:30am–8:00pm) on site, with benefits eligible and shift differential. Minimum requirements include an Associate's Degree in Laboratory Science/MLT or HT/MLT, and there is potential for professional

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Laboratory Science/MLT required.
• Experience: No Experience required.
• Preferred: 2–5 years of experience in a related lab role.

Responsibilities

• Specimen handling and grossing: examine, dissect, and section biopsies and uncomplicated resections; document findings and submit for histology.
• Clinical data review: summarize patient history from requisitions, review EMRs, and operate dictation/telepathology systems.
• Quality control: verify labeling and demographics, coordinate corrections with accessioning, and maintain specimen integrity.
