Job summary

Scripps Health is hiring a Grossing Assistant at our La Jolla location for a full-time day shift (9:00am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday). You will work closely with surgical pathology and pathologists to grossly describe a variety of specimens to support timely patient diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and description of small specimens, including slicing of tissues for microscopic examination; obtain clinical history and describe gross features.
• Document activities and results consistently and legibly; proofread and double-check work to minimize errors.
• Demonstrates proficiency with cutting frozen section blocks and staining frozen sections and touch-prep slides; photograph gross specimens.
• Assists with specimen tracking, accessioning, cleaning, and provides clerical support for the laboratory; answers phones.
