Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Pathologist Assistant to join our Pathology Laboratory at Ascension St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS.

The position is per diem / as needed, with responsibilities including complete dissection, gross description, tissue submission for microscopic examination, and strict adherence to lab procedures. Minimum qualifications include a biology/chemistry life sciences degree and 1+ year of grossing experience with small biopsies and complex surgical cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological, Chemical or related life science.
• 1 year or more of grossing experience with small biopsies and complex surgical cases.

Responsibilities

• Perform dissection, describe tissues, and submit for microscopic examination per guidelines.
• Follow specimen handling and processing procedures.
• Adhere to quality control policies; maintain professional environment.
• Assist other rotations and complete tasks in a timely manner after assignment.
• Identify and report issues affecting test performance or reporting results.
• Maintain high ethical standards and integrity in duties.
• Be aware of hazardous waste management and PPE requirements.
• Experience cutting frozen sections is desirable.
