Job summary

NYU Langone Health's NYU Grossman School of Medicine invites applications for a Pathologists' Assistant - Woodhull. The role focuses on collecting specimens in the OR, coordinating with surgical staff, and supporting pathology operations.

Qualifications

• Pathology training and experience in grossing a large variety of pathology specimens.
• Familiarity with tumour staging; working knowledge of banking practices and regulation.
• Ability to review slides is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with surgical staff to determine exact timing of specimen excisions and collect them from the OR.
• Assist the Director and Managers in optimizing core pathology functions.
• Design and test protocols to expedite specimen and data collection.
• Coordinate tissue acquisition and work with tissue banking for storage and linkage to information.
• Bank tissue following the decision process when possible.
• Perform diagnostic exams to determine which parts of specimens are not required for diagnosis with attending pathologists.
