Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine, part of NYU Langone Health, is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant - Woodhull to join our team. This position focuses on specimens collection in the OR, requiring pathology expertise and efficient workflow.

The successful candidate will work with surgical staff, assist leadership in core functions, and help design procedures to expedite data collection, with an emphasis on rapid tissue banking and accurate dissections.

Qualifications

• Pathology training and grossing experience across diverse specimens.
• Familiarity with tumor staging and banking practices/regulation.
• Slide review ability is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with surgical staff to determine timing and collect specimens from the OR.
• Assist Director and Managers in optimizing core function.
• Help design and test protocols to expedite tissue and data collection.
• Coordinate to obtain tissue within 30 minutes and liaise with tissue banking staff.
• Bank tissue following decisions when possible.
• Perform diagnostic exam to decide which tissue is not required for diagnosis.
