Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have pathology grossing experience.
• Familiarity with tumor staging practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of surgical staff.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with surgical staff to time specimen excisions and collect them from the OR.
• Assist Director and Managers in optimizing core pathology functions.
• Help design and test protocols to expedite specimen and data collection.
• Acquire tissue quickly (under 30 minutes) and coordinate with tissue banking for storage and data linkage.
• Bank tissue following decision processes when possible.
• Perform diagnostic exam to determine which parts are not needed for diagnosis in coordination with pathologists.
