Qualifications

• MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent.
• PREFERRED EDUCATION: Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent
• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of pathology or laboratory experience

Responsibilities

• The Pathology Assistant performs laboratory and clerical functions.
• Assists Pathologist, Histology Technician or Histology Technologist with histology specimen management and histological staining.
• Ensures proper maintenance of equipment, provision of adequate supplies and cleanliness of the tissue lab (tissue lab) and tissue storage area(s).
• Files slides, consults and retrieves slides/blocks as requested by the Pathologist.
• Completes established training for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
