Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant in Manhattan, NY. The role involves gross examination, dissection of anatomical pathology specimens, and preparation for various tests under the supervision of a pathologist.

The candidate will assist in resident training and participate in conferences, QA/QI initiatives, and ensure compliance with CAP, NYSDOH and Joint Commission standards. Salary ranges from $123,596 to $168,540 per year plus a 10% shift differential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a NAACLS accredited Pathology Assistant training program, or Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science with related experience.
• NYSDOH License as a Pathologist Assistant.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Reconciliation of specimens: accessioning and labeling according to procedures.
• Obtaining and applying clinical information to analysis and interpretation of surgical cases.
• Gross description: dictate accurate gross descriptions per protocols.
• Dissection of specimens per established protocols.
• Prepare tissue for histology, frozen sections and additional studies; assist with cryostat imaging and digital photography as needed.
• Assist in resident training/teaching of gross examination and dictation procedures.
