Position Summary

The Pathologists’ Assistant (PA), under supervision of a Pathologist, performs gross examination and sectioning of surgical pathology specimens. Ensures timely completion of grossing, following protocols to aid diagnosis. Coordinates between the Grossing area and other laboratory sections, surgical services, and providers. Maintains records, logs, and files as per standards. Cross-training or assistance in other lab sections may occur as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an NACCLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program or a related field with two years of on-the-job training as a PA.
• Applicants trained outside the U.S. must provide equivalency documentation evaluated by a recognized organization (e.g., NACES, AICE).

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP certification preferred.
• Three years of experience as a PA in an academic hospital setting preferred.
