Qualifications

• Must have 1–2 years grossing experience in a teaching institution with residents.
• Knowledgeable with voice dictation software such as Voicebrook.
• Master’s degree from a NAACLS accredited Pathologist Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Examines tissue samples to assist the pathologist in diagnosing disease and provides a general description.
• Assists the pathologist in pro-section, including external examination, dissection, data recording, and dictation.
• Assists in procuring autopsy material for tumor banking and bio-analytic procedures.
• Ensures proper restoration of bodies and notifies about hazards.
• Prepares quality assurance/workload reports and may train residents.
• Coordinates support of photography services.
• May train residents in gross evaluation and dissection.
