An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Pathologist Assistant to join their team in New York. In this vital role, you will work closely with attending pathologists, dissecting and processing various tissue specimens while ensuring accurate reporting and analysis. The Pathologist Assistant (PA), under the direct supervision of an attending pathologist, dissects and processes resected tissue and biopsy specimens. These may be simple or complex. Dictate gross descriptions and select representative diagnostic tissue for histologic processing. Assist attending pathologists or residents with intra-operative consultations, including gross dissection and frozen section preparation. Take tissue samples, as appropriate, for special clinical studies, including flowcytometry, cytogenetics, electron microscopy, and IRB-approved research protocols. Possess comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all tissue pathology and grossing procedures. Can perform autopsies, summarize the findings in the context of relevant clinical information in a Provisional Anatomic Diagnosis (PAD) report, and submit appropriate tissue sections for histology for use in the final anatomic diagnosis (FAD) report. Perform professional and administrative activities within a specialized clinical area. Analyzes data and prepares reports on findings.
Qualifications
Must have a Master's Degree
Pathologist Assistant license is required
Prior healthcare working experience is a plus
