Job Title : General Surgical Pathologist

Location : Northeastern United States

Job Type : Full-Time

Job Summary

A well-established pathology group (or hospital / laboratory) in the Northeast is seeking a board-certified (or board-eligible) Surgical Pathologist to join our dynamic and collaborative team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in general surgical pathology with additional fellowship training or subspecialty expertise preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and sign out surgical pathology cases across a broad range of organ systems
  • Provide intraoperative consultations (frozen sections) and gross examination oversight
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinical conferences
  • Collaborate with fellow pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate diagnoses
  • Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, and institutional quality standards
  • Participate in quality assurance, continuing education, and peer review activities
  • If academic) : Contribute to teaching of residents, fellows, or medical students
  • Optional) : Engage in research or scholarly activity

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with AP or AP / CP board certification (or eligibility)
  • Completion of an accredited residency in pathology
  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., GI, GYN, breast, head and neck, or cytopathology) is a plus
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the applicable Northeastern state
  • Excellent diagnostic, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and collaborative team practice

  • Experience in a busy surgical pathology service
  • Interest in contributing to continuous improvement and lab operations
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
