The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology is seeking an exceptional Pathology-Trained Dermatopathologist to join our growing academic faculty.

This is an exciting opportunity for a pathology-trained physician who has completed fellowship training in dermatopathology and is looking to build or advance a rewarding career within a highly collaborative academic dermatology environment.

Expected rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with selected candidate’s experience.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Department of Dermatology, you will work closely with dermatologists and multidisciplinary colleagues throughout the University of Maryland Medical System, providing expert dermatopathology interpretation and valuable clinicopathologic correlation.

The position offers opportunities to:

  • Interpret a diverse and challenging spectrum of dermatopathology specimens within a major academic medical center.
  • Provide expertise in the diagnosis of inflammatory, neoplastic, infectious, and other complex diseases of the skin.
  • Collaborate directly with dermatologists and other specialists on challenging cases and clinicopathologic correlation.
  • Help develop, strengthen, and expand dermatopathology services within the Department of Dermatology.
  • Participate in dermatopathology conferences, case reviews, tumor boards, and multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Educate and mentor dermatology residents, medical students, and other trainees.
  • Participate in clinical research, publications, scholarly projects, and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Pursue academic and leadership opportunities based on individual experience, interests, and career goals.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with selected candidate’s experience. Expected Salary Range: $210,000 to $320,000. The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. For more information, please contact the hiring department.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
