Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie US LLP is seeking a detail-oriented Patent Prosecution Paralegal to support our Patent Prosecution Team with legal operations, document management, compliance processes, and technology initiatives. The role requires five-plus years of patent prosecution experience, strong organizational and writing skills, and familiarity with USPTO Patent Center and ePCT.

You will coordinate filing instructions, monitor deadlines, and maintain prosecution records across domestic and foreign

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five-plus years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and writing skills.
  • Experience with USPTO Patent Center and ePCT; managing patent portfolios and IDS submissions; coordinating with foreign associates.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file U.S. patent applications and related documents with USPTO, WIPO, and foreign jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate domestic and foreign patent prosecution activities and maintain records.
  • Monitor patent dockets, deadlines, and coordinate with attorneys, clients, foreign counsel, vendors, and internal docketing teams.
  • Review and report patent office correspondence.
  • Communicate with clients regarding filings, deadlines, and maintenance matters.
  • Support attorney departures including transition documentation and client matter coordination.
  • Maintain legal databases (iManage, FIP) and participate in technology projects and process improvements.
  • Participate in legal technology projects, testing, implementation initiatives, and portfolio management.
