Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie US LLP is seeking a detail-oriented Patent Prosecution Paralegal to support our patent team with operations, document management, and compliance initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

The role involves coordinating domestic and international filings, managing docketing, and communicating with clients and foreign associates while leveraging legal technology to improve processes. A BA/BS and 5+ years of patent prosecution experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and writing skills.
  • Experience with USPTO Patent Center and ePCT; managing patent portfolios and IDS submissions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; document management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file U.S. patent applications and prosecution documents with USPTO, WIPO, and foreign jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate domestic and foreign patent prosecution activities and monitor deadlines.
  • Maintain patent dockets, track deadlines, and ensure accurate records.
  • Review patent office correspondence and communicate with clients on filings and maintenance.
  • Support transition documentation and client matter coordination during attorney departures.
  • Maintain legal databases (iManage, FIP) and participate in technology and process improvement projects.
