Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks a Patent Prosecution Associate for its San Diego office to support clients in securing patent protections for their innovations. The role involves drafting patent applications and managing US and foreign dockets in a fast-paced IP practice.

The candidate will review invention disclosures, conduct patentability analyses, and respond to USPTO actions, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• At least one year of patent prosecution experience in hardware, software, AI, wireless, or image/signal processing.
• JD or LL.M. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Must be admitted or eligible for admission in California.
• USPTO admission is required.
• Tech background in CS, EEs, ME, or Chem Eng.
• Prior law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Highly organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate and work in a team.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review invention disclosure documents and hold invention disclosure meetings.
• Conduct prior searches, review references, and analyze patentability.
• Draft patent applications.
• Review USPTO office actions, draft responses, and conduct examiner interviews.
• Manage U.S. and foreign patent dockets.
• Analyze patents for due diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses.
