Job summary

Protouch Staffing represents a leading AmLaw 200 law firm seeking a Patent Attorney to focus on U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution across software, electronics, electromechanical systems, and related technologies.

You will work with inventors, in-house counsel, foreign associates, and experienced IP attorneys on sophisticated matters, while managing multiple deadlines and client assignments in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of experience in intellectual property, with meaningful patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• USPTO registration required.
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Undergraduate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with patent matters involving software, electronics, electromechanical technology, image processing, or related technologies.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and technical communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, inventors, and other professionals.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
• Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions and participate in examiner interviews.
• Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity analyses.
• Handle patent matters involving software, electronics, electromechanical systems, image processing, and related technologies.
• Conduct legal and technical research involving patent law and emerging technologies.
• Manage multiple matters, deadlines, and client assignments simultaneously.
• Communicate with inventors, in-house counsel, foreign associates, and clients.
• Participate in client meetings and support business development initiatives as appropriate.
• Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions.
