Job summary

Nextpower seeks a Patent Agent to partner with engineers and leaders to identify potentially patentable inventions and describe them in writing. You will oversee and review outside counsel drafts of US patent applications, conduct prior-art searches, and coordinate international patent prosecution to support strategic protection of Nextpower's portfolio.

With a focus on practical IP processes, you will help evaluate existing portfolios and guide continuations, design protection, or broaden claim

Qualifications

• Registered to practice before USPTO as patent agent.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics.
• Approximately 3+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Strong ability to understand mechanical systems and communicate with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Identify patentable inventions with engineers and document them.
• Oversee outside counsel drafts of US patent applications.
• Conduct prior-art searches and patentability analyses.
• Coordinate international patent prosecution and foreign filings.
• Manage portfolio records, deadlines, and prosecution status.
