Job Title:
Patent Agent (Medical Devices)

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join its intellectual property team. The role involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications, responding to office actions, preparing opinions, and conducting prior art searches, specifically in the fields of medical devices and bioengineering. Expertise in mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and computer science is advantageous.

Duties:

1. Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices and bioengineering.
2. Respond to office actions and collaborate with attorneys throughout the patent process.
3. Assist in preparing legal opinions on patentability and infringement issues.
4. Conduct comprehensive prior art searches to support patent applications.
5. Work with clients and internal teams to provide strategic IP guidance.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Patent Agent.
2. Experience in drafting, prosecuting, and managing patent-related matters.
3. Ability to assist with legal opinions, patent prosecution, and responding to office actions.
4. Knowledge of medical devices, bioengineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science.
5. USPTO registration is required.

Education:

1. Bachelor's or advanced degree in bioengineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Certifications:

1. Admission to practice before the USPTO.
