Job summary

Shriners Children’s Ohio is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Inpatient Unit on the part-time, evening shift (32 hours/week) in Dayton.

The PCA provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists with wound care and routine tasks, and helps plan age-appropriate activities with guidance from a Child Life Therapist, while maintaining a safe, compassionate environment for children and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ohio STNA CNA license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Preferred: one year of pediatric experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provide direct patient care and routine tasks.
• Demonstrate caring behavior with patients and families.
• Assist with wound care, stocking, and delegated nursing tasks.
• Assist with age-appropriate activities under guidance of Child Life Therapist.

Job Description

Shriners Children’s Ohio has an opportunity for a Patient Care Assistant in our Inpatient Unit. Join a team of professionals committed to improving children’s lives. Hours:

The part-time, evening shift position is 32 hours/week.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Patient Care Assistant assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• The PCA provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned.
• Must consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families.
• Assists with wound and skin care, keeps unit and work areas stocked, and provides delegated nursing care activities as appropriate.
• Assists with the planning and provision of structured, age appropriate activities for patients under the guidance or direction of a Child Life Therapist.
• Monitors children’s activities and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment for children.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Ohio STNA license
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of pediatric experience

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
