Job summary

José Andrés Group is hiring a Pastry Cook to execute mise en place and production for pastry items, ensuring quality and timing to JAG standards. You’ll scale recipes, finish desserts, and support service plating while upholding food safety and organization.

Qualified applicants have 1+ year pastry/bakery experience, strong baking fundamentals, and knowledge of food safety. The role offers hourly pay, health benefits where applicable, and growth within a leading hospitality group.

Qualifications

• 1+ year professional pastry/bakery experience in upscale environments.
• Strong scaling, baking methods, tempering chocolate, glazing and finishing.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and sanitation; Food Handler certification preferred.
• Excellent organization and pace under pressure; clear communication.
• Flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily prep lists to spec: cakes, tarts, custards, and more.
• Scale recipes accurately, temper chocolate, finish desserts to standard.
• Set up pastry station for service and coordinate with expo to protect timing.
• Log adjustments per SOP and participate in tastings with coaching.
• Maintain hygiene, labeling, FIFO, and temperature records.
