Job summary

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood is seeking a Pastry Cook to assist in preparing various desserts under the direction of the Pastry Chef. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean Bake Shop and ensuring the excellence of food service.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma, culinary experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced casino environment. Applicants should possess strong communication skills and be prepared to work with diverse customers.

Qualifications

Job Description

Under the direction of the Pastry Chef, the candidate assists in the preparation of cakes, cookies, pies, puddings, or desserts according to recipes. Duties also include maintaining the Bake Shop in a clean and sanitary manner in accordance with local and state health department codes and keeping a safe, hazard‑free work environment within their area of responsibility. The candidate ensures a fresh, positive and exciting environment where safety, flawless delivery and product excellence are paramount.

Essential Job Functions

• Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Gaming Commission regulations and Seminole Tribe of Florida departmental policies and procedures.
• Control the function of their section and assist in contributing to the overall Food and Beverage Department profit.
• Ensure all menus and food produced in their section meet the standards set by the management team.
• Recreate recipes, techniques, and menu items as directed by management.
• Conduct on‑the‑job training sessions with all staff.
• Prepare daily food requirements and daily specials for their section.
• Communicate with chefs to order proper quantities for each shift.
• Ensure service is fast, fun, friendly, fresh, and focused.
• Maintain preparation, storage, sanitation, and general hygiene standards.
• Conduct regular cleaning within kitchen outlets.
• Demonstrate a commitment to responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying managers of concerns and observations.
• Behave in accordance with the company’s mission and values of communication, integrity, fun, respect, accountability, passion, and dedication.
• Notify managers or the Ethics Hotline promptly of any observation of illegal acts or internal ethics violations.
• Ensure activities comply with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, legal demands, and professional and ethical standards.
• Possess knowledge of the full pastry menu and techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Culinary Arts degree preferred. Two (2) years of experience required or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Work Environment

• The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms, talks or hears; and tastes or smells. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• The casino environment is hectic, fast‑paced, often crowded, and noisy, and may expose the employee to second‑hand smoke, excessive noise, and constant exposure to the general public.
• The employee must communicate effectively with guests in English.
