Position Summary

The Pastry Cook is a vital part of our culinary team, responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to recipes and standards. The role requires a passionate, dedicated cook with strong work ethic and team skills. The Pastry Cook reports to the Sous Chefs, Kitchen Supervisor, and Lead Line Cooks, contributing to kitchen efficiency and upholding our values. This role offers opportunities for skill development and career growth.

Hourly pay ranges from $23.00 to $26.00.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items following recipes and plating guidelines, demonstrating proficiency in various techniques.
  • Ensure dishes meet standards for taste and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation adhering to food safety regulations.
  • Assist Lead Line Cooks and Sous Chefs to ensure flawless pastry production.
  • Stock ingredients and supplies adequately.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced catering environment.
Teamwork & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff for timely service.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Assist in training new cooks.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment.
Event Support
  • May work on-site at events, assisting with food prep, plating, and service.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary coursework preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in catering, restaurant, or food service.
  • Experience across kitchen stations is desirable.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong pastry and culinary skills.
  • Ability to follow recipes and produce consistent quality.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (NYC Food Handler's Certificate required).
