Job summary

Boise Centre in Boise invites a Pastry Cook to join our culinary team, crafting elegant plated desserts and large-scale event pastries with precision and flair.

You will produce high-quality baked goods for conferences and galas, follow traditional and modern recipes, and collaborate with the Pastry Chef and team to ensure display, flavor, and consistency across all offerings. This full-time role requires weekend availability and a passion for presentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of baking or culinary experience.
  • ServSafe or Idaho Food Handlers certification required.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality in high-volume kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Pastry Production: Prepare large quantities of baked goods including cakes, cookies, pies, breads, and specialty desserts for events of varying size.
  • Recipe Execution: Follow traditional and modern recipes to ensure consistent quality, flavor, and presentation.
  • Presentation & Displays: Create decorative dessert displays and ensure all pastries are presented professionally and creatively.
  • Food Safety & Sanitation: Maintain compliance with Boise Centre standards and all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
  • Workstation Management: Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Pastry Chef and culinary team to accommodate special requests and support event needs.
  • Inventory Support: Assist with monitoring bakery inventory and supplies to support efficient production.

Compensation
  • Range of $20.30–$27.46 per hour, depending on experience.

  • Dependable, professional, and self-motivated.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in warm kitchen environments for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
