Job summary

Seahorse NYC is seeking an experienced pastry cook to lead our pastry team. You will coordinate the organization, planning, and quality control of our bakery output, while mentoring staff in the Kitchen’s bake/pastry shop to uphold our cultural standards and culinary excellence.

The role requires at least 2 years of culinary experience, a creative mindset, availability on weekends and holidays, fluent English, and US work authorization with DOH certification.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of culinary experience.
  • Must be creative and innovative to ensure the evolution of offerings.
  • Flexible schedule; weekends and holidays. Fluent in English; legal US work authorization; DOH Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and development of menus for the hotel, ensuring correct preparation and presentation of a consistent level for all food items.
  • Control labor and operating expenses through organization, purchasing decisions, and inventory control.
  • Ensure sanitation standards comply with Four Seasons, local, state, and federal regulations, and maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization.
  • Communicate with employees and managers to meet operational needs; attend regular meetings for coordination.
  • Work harmoniously with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Able to type, create recipes, make pickup charts, and use spreadsheets to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure food quality through inspections and frequent quality checks.
  • Inspire and motivate team members and conduct team-building activities.
  • Floor presence to develop the pastry team and contribute to operation success.
  • Work across shifts and pastry kitchen areas to meet business needs and grow within the organization.

Seahorse NYC is hiring an experienced pastry cook to join our team. We are committed to providing an unparalleled dining experience for our guests and seek a team leader who can positively impact our already thriving business.
We are looking for an individual who can be a part of the culinary staff that we have built and who has a passion for pastry. You will coordinate the organization, planning, and quality control of the product, as well as the development of employees in the Kitchen’s bake/pastry shop through effective management and leadership to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the planning and development of menus for the hotel, ensuring the correct preparation and presentation of a consistent level for all food items prepared
  2. Control labor and operating expenses through effective organization, purchasing decisions, and inventory control
  3. Ensure that sanitation standards as set forth by Four Seasons, local, state, and federal regulations comply, as well as the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
  4. Communicate with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met, as well as attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments
  5. Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors
  6. Able to type, create recipes, make pickup charts, and any spreadsheet needed to make work efficient.
  7. Ensure food quality is up to standards by inspecting and conducting frequent quality checks
  8. Inspire and motivate the Team members and conduct any team‑building activities.
  9. Floor presence to demonstrate and develop the pastry Team to contribute to the success of the operation
  10. Able to work in different shifts and areas of the pastry kitchen to fulfill business needs and to acquire the knowledge needed to successfully meet the expectations for this role, and be able to grow within the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of Culinary Experience
  • Must be creative and innovative to ensure the continuous evolution of offerings
  • A successful candidate will have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays. They must also be fluent in English, possess legal work authorization in the United States, and have DOH Certification.
  • Hourly Rate: $20-$25
