Position Summary:

In this role, you will play a vital part in creating memorable experiences for our Membership while nurturing a supportive and inclusive environment rooted in integrity, community, and harmony. Your responsibilities will include overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service, all aimed at fostering connections and ensuring our team thrives together in a spirit of collaboration and shared purpose.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver service with care and attention, always prioritizing quality and the well-being of the Members.
  • Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes.
  • Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of members.
  • Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget.
  • Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train.
  • Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Handle member/guest feedback and resolve any culinary-related issues promptly and professionally.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor all pool staff ensuring they are proficient in their roles and adhere to all club policies.
  • Create and manage daily staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency, especially during peak hours.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and in-service training sessions to review safety protocols, emergency procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Conduct and provide constructive feedback to staff, addressing any disciplinary issues as needed.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is clean, sanitized, and in good working order.
  • Follow and ensure safety protocols are followed by others.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Any other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that foster a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.
  • Proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker or relevant role.
  • Great attention to detail and creativity.
  • Organizing and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.).
  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field.
  • A genuine desire to work as part of a team and contribute positively to our workplace culture.
  • Ability to play high and close attention to detail for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional service that makes a difference to our Membership.
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed primarily in a commercial kitchen environment, which can be fast-paced, noisy, and hot.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold), steam, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Work schedule requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • May be required to work long hours during peak seasons or special events.
  • Requires standing for extended periods, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • You may experience variable noise levels.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (8+ hours per shift).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for handling kitchen equipment and preparing food.
  • Ability to work in a hot and humid environment.
  • Ability to work around sharp objects and hot surfaces.
  • Good vision and hearing are essential.
