Job summary

Mission Church seeks a Care Director to provide leadership, systems, and support for care across the church as it grows. This role blends pastoral care with strategic leadership to equip staff, leaders, volunteers, Partners, and Planters to deliver personal, relational, and sustainable care.

The Care Director owns the care system, building coaching, resources, teams, and pathways to ensure care remains personal while scalable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Ministry, Theology, Biblical Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience building care, support, or organizational infrastructure within a nonprofit environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build systems, clarify ownership, develop leaders, and create sustainable processes around complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain centralized pastoral care processes that allow Mission to care for people effectively at scale.
• Create clear workflows for incoming care needs, communication, follow-up, and escalation.
• Establish decision‑making structures and clarify ownership for different care categories (e.g., marriage, funerals, counseling, benevolence).
• Develop sustainable systems that reduce reactive care and create proactive pathways.
• Ensure staff, leaders, and volunteers understand how to navigate Mission’s care systems.
• Coordinate funeral processes and provide support to families experiencing loss.
• Support staff and ministry leaders as they navigate complex pastoral care situations.
