Overview

First Presbyterian Church of Fort Oglethorpe is seeking a solo pastor who joyfully embraces a strong adherence to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. The pastor will lead our congregation through Christ‑centered preaching, intentional discipleship, pastoral care, and wise spiritual leadership.

1. Preaching (Primary Strength)

1. Preach expository, doctrinally rich sermons with clarity and pastoral warmth
2. Maintain a preaching ministry rooted in the Westminster Standards
3. Plan and lead morning and evening Lord’s Day services

2. Teaching

1. Teach Sunday School as needed
2. Lead mid‑week prayer meetings
3. Equip the congregation in Scripture and Reformed theology
4. Provide theological leadership

3. Discipleship

1. Cultivate spiritual growth through mentoring and small groups
2. Train members in holiness and biblical knowledge
3. Encourage household discipleship

4. Worship Leadership

1. Lead worship according to the regulative principle
2. Provide inputs for weekly worship liturgies (psalms, hymns, prayers, confessions)
3. Maintain reverent, God‑centered worship

5. Evangelism

1. Model personal evangelism and hospitality
2. Lead outreach to the community
3. Support missions and evangelistic initiatives

6. Pastoral Visitation

1. Visit members, shut‑ins, and those in crisis
2. Provide biblical counseling and prayer
3. Shepherd with compassion and attentiveness

7. Leadership & Administration

1. Moderate the Session
2. Provide oversight to ministries and committees
3. Ensure ministries align with Scripture, the Westminster Standards, and the PCA BCO
4. Administer the sacraments faithfully
