Overview

Pastor/Teaching Elder purpose: To provide spiritual and pastoral leadership to the congregation of Hope Presbyterian Church of Folsom in conjunction with the Session, facilitating the fulfillment of the church’s mission and fostering community and spiritual growth amongst its members.

Responsibilities

• Preach and teach the Gospel according to sound biblical doctrine. Plan and lead worship services (including determining the order of worship and music) and administer sacraments.
• Provide spiritual guidance to the congregation.
• Conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms, membership classes.
• Offer pastoral care, visitations, counseling, and support to individuals and families in times of need.
• Moderate the Session and, with the elders, be responsible for the oversight of all ministries in the church.
• Attendance at monthly Deacon meeting, providing training, encouragement and a short devotion.
• Give direction and support to other ministry teams.
• Has a heart for outreach in the community and encourages and supports involvement in activities that encourage community engagement, furthering the Kingdom of God.

• Participation in the Presbytery: Faithfully attend and participate in Presbytery meetings, activities, and General Assembly.
• Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the church, including staff, budget, and facilities, in conjunction with the Session, as prescribed by the Book of Order.
• Collaborate with church staff and leadership teams to execute and improve church programs and events.
• Ensure compliance with Evangelical Presbyterian Church standards and regulations.
• Uphold the current vision and mission of Hope Presbyterian Church.

• Lead by example and model Christian values and behavior.
• Foster community unity with the congregation and the community at large.

Qualifications
