Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events—including kids birthday parties and craft classes—within a Michaels store to provide a stress‑free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop, locating products, and ensuring a fast checkout experience. Complete operational tasks such as truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed.
Event Coordination
- Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes.
- Engage clients of all ages (4 to 94+) by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
- Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
- Facilitate and implement party add‑ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
- Communicate events with clients and store team members.
- Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
- Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
- Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
- Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
- Uphold cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Customer Experience
- Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions.
- Provide fast and friendly checkout experience.
- Engage customers on Rewards program benefits and Private Label Credit Card enrollment.
- Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
- Assist with omni‑channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
- Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes.
- Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
- Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
- Support shrink and safety programs.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; promote commitment to company vision and values.
- Cross‑trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
- Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining restroom cleanliness.

- Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and co‑workers.
- Excellent people skills and strong communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal).
- Experience working with children and children’s events.
- Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to move throughout the store.
- Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
- Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
